Year of Yes, But Also Year of No...

Well what I really mean is YES to YOU, NO to THEM (whatever that may mean for you). We tend to have trouble saying “yes” to ourselves, and “no” to others. Ever notice that?

Life is too short to hinder yourself from doing anything that you deem an enhancement to your life, or being who you are. Stop limiting yourself for the approval of others or missing opportunities and memories you could be creating. Today is the day, folks. Start that business! Travel the globe! Eat some Girl Scout cookies! Go out! Stay in! DO YOU, BOO!

This year I bought a shiny, new car from out of the clear blue sky. Why? Because I could. Now, this doesn’t mean you need to run off making impulsive decisions like me, but I saw something I liked. In the words of the great Ariana Grande, “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it.” Because this is my year of YES, and I suggest making it yours, too!

Life is also TOO SHORT to do things you don’t want to, don’t feel like, uncomfortable with doing. TOO. SHORT. I titled this entry the way that I did because there is something so liberating in telling yourself “Yes”, and even more-so in telling others “No”.

I am learning more and more about declining people and things without explanation. You owe no one anything, so your “no” is sufficient. I am preaching to the choir, as I am known to sit around, survey people, even Google ways to turn down dates with nice guys, or decline going to birthday parties or scenes that I didn’t feel like being at.  I’ve stopped going out when id rather be home. This is jus who I am as a person now.

Moral of the story; its okay to tell people “No” if it will make you unhappy. It’s even more okay to loosen up a little on your end. YES to you, NO to them.
